I find myself increasingly drawn to the desire to strip my artwork down to just glowing vibrant color. Yes, it’s reminiscent of Mark Rothko’s paintings. But I’m doing it anyway because I love it. The saturated yet transparent colors allow the woodgrain to show through, highlighting the lines of growth and life of the tree. Color is aliveness. And I want to dive into it, surrounding myself in its vitality.
