Dyed birch panel, epoxy, metal powder, copper
The orange-red of this dyed panel is one of my favorite colors and is BIG. The scribbly detail along the bottom was created by drizzling epoxy on the surface and then sifting metal powder onto the epoxy while it was still wet. It has a puffy 3D texture. I also nailed a copper strip onto the bottom edge and used a burnisher to shape the copper to the ins and outs of the metallic epoxy gloops at the front edge. It’s a visually subtle detail but adds an important message of “Anne will go to great time-consuming lengths to barely make her artwork more cool.” But I do like the craft the copper detail brings to this dyed panel.
