Orchid Table

$2,000.00

24.5” tall x 28.5”wide x 28.5”deep, dyed birch plywood, brass, epoxy.

The Orchid Table is a confection of a utilitarian table. In fact, it would look great with actual confections on it! Pink/orange/yellow is one of my favorite color combinations. The horizontal surfaces are coated in durable epoxy so if you put plants on it, you don’t need worry about water damaging the wood. This design works great between club chairs or on its own. The 3 upper level circles are each 10” diameter and the large lower circle is 22” diameter. All vertical surfaces are finished with Monocoat, a linseed oil-based finish.

It’s the details that make this piece stand out. Brass rods add both bling and strength as they help anchor the upper shelves. And in the center of each round shelf is a striped poika-dot of endgrain plywood.

The Orchid Table is one of 3 small tables I made from a single sheet of plywood. In 2022, I was one of 20+ artists invited by the Arvada Center in Arvada, CO to create artwork from a 4’ x 8’ sheet of plywood. Each artist got their own sheet of birch plywood and the resulting artwork was fascinatingly all over the place, stylistically. Orchid Table, Cirque Table, and Cricket Table came from my piece of plywood. The Arvada Center provided the plywood and some of the interior laminations appear to be black. I’m not sure what kind of wood is in there, but it results in very dramatic patterning of the tapered legs.

If you want to purchase the Orchid Table, please select “Freight Charges Calculated Later” when the checkout process gets to the shipping options. You and I should discuss what shipping/delivery option is best for you. There are multiple possibilities for shipping this table, either by a professional shipping company or by me. In general, if you live within a 1 hour drive from Fort Collins, CO, I will deliver it for free. If you live a few more hours away, I will deliver it for a reasonable fee. If you live a lot further away, there might be a chance you could still convince me to take a road trip and drive it to you for a larger fee. Once we decide the best shipping/delivery option, I will then charge you the appropriate amount for the shipping.
