Dyed maple plywood, burnt pine, steel, acrylic paint

Made of upcycled plywood and things I can find in my shop, these abstract bird sculptures are each unique. As I make them, they tell me what they should look like and on what they want to perch. I glue together multiple pieces of plywood to get the basic shapes. Then the final shaping takes place on the belt sander as I sand angles and facets into them to reveal the stripes of the plywood that help illustrate the beaks and feathers.

The Birdies look good as individuals or a flock.
