Made from upcycled scraps from my furniture making. “Tina” is a celebration of my love of pink and yellow as a color pairing. The pink vertical pieces are attached perpendicularly to a horizontal yellow background. I then hammered brass brads into the pink plywood parts and wound yellow-dyed cotton yarn around them in a geometric pattern. The yellow yarn on the surface converses with the matching yellow background, but it’s in whispers. Because from a distance, you can’t see the brads and yarn. You only notice this detail upon closer inspection of the piece. On the flat ends of the verticals, I also applied pieces of copper sheet. Because really, copper and pink are a match made in heaven. This piece is very difficult to envision from photographs. It really should be experienced in person.
This series is titled like hurricanes are named, female names in alphabetical order. “Tina” is the 20th in the series.
